Mason Goddard ist ein besonders ausgebuffter Verbrecher – weshalb die Polizei ihm bisher nichts nachweisen, geschweige denn ihn bei einem seiner Coups auf frischer Tat erwischen konnte. Damit das so bleibt, hat er nun beschlossen, sich in den Ruhestand zurückzuziehen. Um diesen so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten, plant Mason noch einen letzten, besonders lohnenden Überfall auf eine mit Bargeld geradezu überquellende Bank. Bei der eigentlich perfekt geplanten Durchführung des Raubzugs kommt es dennoch zu Problemen. So sind Mason und seine Komplizen plötzlich in dem Geldinstitut gefangen und gezwungen, Personal und Kundschaft als Geiseln zu nehmen. Es ist der Freitagabend vor Weihnachten im Londoner Nobelrestaurant „Jones & Sons“: Chefkoch und Mitbesitzer Andy Jones hat mal wieder Stress mit seiner Ex-Frau und ist zudem komplett übermüdet. Als er in entsprechend irritiertem Zustand in seiner Küche ankommt, wird er umgehend davon in Kenntnis gesetzt, dass ein Gesundheitsinspektor den Betrieb herabgestuft hat und zudem ausgerechnet an diesem, komplett ausgebuchten Abend die Vorräte viel zu knapp bemessen sind. Andy und seiner Crew bleibt nichts anderes übrig als die Zähne zusammenzubeißen und irgendwie durchzupowern. Zu allem Überfluss sind die Gäste heute natürlich besonders anspruchsvoll und äußern einen Sonderwunsch nach dem anderen. Und als Krönung des Ganzen taucht plötzlich auch noch Andys Ex-Boss und einstiger Mentor Alastair Skye in Begleitung der berüchtigten Restaurantkritikerin Sara Southworth auf.
