Als der Polizist Mason Storm dahinterkommt, dass ein Anschlag auf einen US-Senator geplant wird, ist es bereits zu spät. Aus den eigenen Reihen verraten werden er und seine Familie, sowie einer seiner Kollegen Opfer von Anschlägen. Storm überlebt knapp, fällt aber in ein siebenjähriges Koma. Trotz seiner neuen Identität spricht sich sein Erwachen schnell herum und die Attentäter von damals machen bereits kurze Zeit später erneut Jagd auf ihn. Mithilfe einer Krankenschwester gelingt es ihm jedoch wiederholt zu entkommen. Noch geschwächt von den Folgen des langen Komas beginnt Storm wieder alte Form anzunehmen.
