Fong-Tin Ching ist ein liebenswerter Gauner, der in einen kleinen Stadt ein Bordell eröffnet. Um für Kundschaft zu sorgen sorgt er dafür, daß der Shanghai Express gerade an dieser Stadt nicht weiterfahren kann. Somit müssen alle Reisenden in der Stadt bleiben. Soweit so gut. In dem Zug befinden sich aber auch drei japanische Diebe, die ein chinesisches Kulturgut gestohlen haben und eine Bande von anderen Räubern versucht dieses an sich zu bringen. Dann gibt es noch einen Kopfgeldjäger, der Fong-Tin fangen will; ein Feuerwehrmann der zum Polizeichef wird; eine Bande diebischer Ex-Polizisten und viele, viele mehr…
